| 1 | The sons of Judah: Perez, Hezron, Carmi, Hut and Shobal. | בְּנֵי יְהוּדָה פֶּרֶץ חֶצְרֹון וְכַרְמִי וְחוּר וְשֹׁובָל׃ | ||
| 2 | Reaiah son of Shobal was the father of Jahath, Jahath father of Ahumai and Lahad. These were the clans of the Zorathites. | וּרְאָיָה בֶן־שֹׁובָל הֹולִיד אֶת־יַחַת וְיַחַת הֹלִיד אֶת־אֲחוּמַי וְאֶת־לָהַד אֵלֶּה מִשְׁפְּחֹות הַצָּרְעָתִי׃ ס | ||
| 3 | (3-4) The sons of Etam: Jezreel, Ishma, Idbash, Penuel the founder of Gedor, and Ezer the founder of Hushah; they had a sister named Hazelelponi. These were the sons of Hur: Ephrathah the eldest, the founder of Bethlehem. | וְאֵלֶּה אֲבִי עֵיטָם יִזְרְעֶאל וְיִשְׁמָא וְיִדְבָּשׁ וְשֵׁם אֲחֹותָם הַצְלֶלְפֹּונִי׃ | ||
| 4 | וּפְנוּאֵל אֲבִי גְדֹר וְעֵזֶר אֲבִי חוּשָׁה אֵלֶּה בְנֵי־חוּר בְּכֹור אֶפְרָתָה אֲבִי בֵּית לָחֶם׃ | |||
| 5 | Ashhur the founder of Tekoa had two wives, Helah and Naarah. | וּלְאַשְׁחוּר אֲבִי תְקֹועַ הָיוּ שְׁתֵּי נָשִׁים חֶלְאָה וְנַעֲרָה׃ | ||
| 6 | Naarah bore him Ahuzam, Hepher, Temeni and Haahashtari . These were the sons of Naarah. | וַתֵּלֶד לֹו נַעֲרָה אֶת־אֲחֻזָּם וְאֶת־חֵפֶר וְאֶת־תֵּימְנִי וְאֶת־הָאֲחַשְׁתָּרִי אֵלֶּה בְּנֵי נַעֲרָה׃ | ||

| 8 | Coz was the father of Anub and Zobebah and the clans of Aharhel son of Harum. | וְקֹוץ הֹולִיד אֶת־עָנוּב וְאֶת־הַצֹּבֵבָה וּמִשְׁפְּחֹות אֲחַרְחֵל בֶּן־הָרוּם׃ | ||
| 9 | Jabez ranked higher than his brothers; his mother called him Jabez because, as she said, she had borne him in pain. | וַיְהִי יַעְבֵּץ נִכְבָּד מֵאֶחָיו וְאִמֹּו קָרְאָה שְׁמֹו יַעְבֵּץ לֵאמֹר כִּי יָלַדְתִּי בְּעֹצֶב׃ | ||
| 10 | Jabez called upon the God of Israel and said, 'I pray thee, bless me and grant me wide territories. | 13 | The sons of Kenaz: Othniel and Seraiah. The sons of Othniel: Hathath and Meonothai. | וּבְנֵי קְנַז עָתְנִיאֵל וּשְׂרָיָה וּבְנֵי עָתְנִיאֵל חֲתַת׃ | ||
| 14 | Meonothai was the father of Ophrah. Seraiah was the father of Joab founder of Ge-harashim , for they were craftsmen. | וּמְעֹונֹתַי הֹולִיד אֶת־עָפְרָה וּשְׂרָיָה הֹולִיד אֶת־יֹואָב אֲבִי גֵּיא חֲרָשִׁים כִּי חֲרָשִׁים הָיוּ׃ ף | ||
| 15 | The sons of Caleb son of Jephunneh: Iru, Elah and Naam. The son of Elah: Kenaz. | וּבְנֵי כָּלֵב בֶּן־יְפֻנֶּה עִירוּ אֵלָה וָנָעַם וּבְנֵי אֵלָה וּקְנַז׃ | ||
| 16 | The sons of Jehaleleel: Ziph and Ziphah, Tiria and Asareel. | וּבְנֵי יְהַלֶּלְאֵל זִיף וְזִיפָה תִּירְיָא וַאֲשַׂרְאֵל׃ | ||
| 17 | (17-18) The sons of Ezra: Jether, Mered, Epher and Jalon. These were the sons of Bithiah daughter of Pharaoh, whom Mered had married; she conceived and gave birth to Miriam, Shammai and Ishbah founder of Eshtemoa. | 31 | Beth-marcaboth, Hazar-susim, Beth-birei, and Shaaraim. These were their cities until David came to the throne. | וּבְבֵית מַרְכָּבֹות וּבַחֲצַר סוּסִים וּבְבֵית בִּרְאִי וּבְשַׁעֲרָיִם אֵלֶּה עָרֵיהֶם עַד־מְלֹךְ דָּוִיד׃ | ||
| 32 | Their settlements were Etam, Ain, Rimmon, Tochen, and Ashan, five cities in all. | וְחַצְרֵיהֶם עֵיטָם וָעַיִן רִמֹּון וְתֹכֶן וְעָשָׁן עָרִים חָמֵשׁ׃ | ||

| 35 | Joel, Jehu son of Josibiah, son of Seraiah, son of Asiel, | וְיֹואֵל וְיֵהוּא בֶּן־יֹושִׁבְיָה בֶּן־שְׂרָיָה בֶּן־עֲשִׂיאֵל׃ | ||
| 36 | Elioenai, Jaakobah, Jeshohaiah, Asaiah, Adiel, Jesimiel, Benaiah, | וְאֶלְיֹועֵינַי וְיַעֲקֹבָה וִישֹׁוחָיָה וַעֲשָׂיָה וַעֲדִיאֵל וִישִׂימִאֵל וּבְנָיָה׃ | ||

| 39 | They then went from the approaches to Gedor east of the valley in search of pasture for their flocks. | וַיֵּלְכוּ לִמְבֹוא גְדֹר עַד לְמִזְרַח הַגָּיְא לְבַקֵּשׁ מִרְעֶה לְצֹאנָם׃ | ||
| 40 | They found rich and good pasture in a wide stretch of open country where everything was quiet and peaceful; before then it had been occupied by Hamites. | וַיִּמְצְאוּ מִרְעֶה שָׁמֵן וָטֹוב וְהָאָרֶץ רַחֲבַת יָדַיִם וְשֹׁקֶטֶת וּשְׁלֵוָה כִּי מִן־חָם הַיֹּשְׁבִים שָׁם לְפָנִים׃ | ||
| 41 | During the reign of Hezekiah king of Judah these whose names are written above came and destroyed the tribes of Ham and the Meunites whom they found there.
