| 14 | Locutusque est Dominus ad Moysen, dicens: |
And the Lord spak to Moises, |
And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying: | Tythe offerings. Lv.5.14-6.7 |
| 15 | Anima si prævaricans cæremonias, per errorem, in his quæ Domino sunt sanctificata, peccaverit, offeret pro delicto suo arietem immaculatum de gregibus, qui emi potest duobus siclis, juxta pondus sanctuarii: |
and seide, If a soule brekith cerymonyes bi errour, and synneth in these thingis that ben halewid to the Lord, it schal offre for his trespas a ram without wem of the flockis, that may be bouyt for twey siclis, bi the weiyte of the seyntuarie. |
If any one shall sin through mistake, transgressing the ceremonies in those things that are sacrificed to the Lord, he shall offer for his offence a ram without blemish out of the flocks, that may be bought for two sicles, according to the weight of the sanctuary: | |
| 16 | ipsumque quod intulit damni restituet, et quintam partem ponet supra, tradens sacerdoti, qui rogabit pro eo offerens arietem, et dimittetur ei. |
And he schal restore that harm that he dide, and he schal putte the fyuethe part aboue, and schal yyue to the preest, which preest schal preye for hym, and offre the ram, and it schal be foryouun to hym. |
And he shall make good the damage itself which he hath done, and shall add the fifth part besides, delivering it to the priest, who shall pray for him, offering the ram, and it shall be forgiven him. | |
| 17 | Anima si peccaverit per ignorantiam, feceritque unum ex his quæ Domini lege prohibentur, et peccati rea intellexerit iniquitatem suam, |
A soule that synneth bi ignoraunce, and doith oon of these thingis that ben forbodun in the lawe of the Lord, and is gilti of synne, and vndirstondith his wickidnesse, |
If any one sin through ignorance, and do one of those things which by the law of the Lord are forbidden, and being guilty of sin, understand his iniquity, | |
| 18 | offeret arietem immaculatum de gregibus sacerdoti, juxta mensuram æstimationemque peccati: qui orabit pro eo, quia nesciens fecerit: et dimittetur ei, |
it schal offre to the preest a ram without wem of the flockis, bi the mesure of estymacioun of synne; and the preest schal preye for hym, for he dide vnwytynge, and it schal be foryouun to him, |
He shall offer of the hocks a ram without blemish to the priest, according to the measure and estimation of the sin: and the priest shall pray for him, because he did it ignorantly: and it shall be forgiven him, | |
| 19 | quia per errorem deliquit in Dominum. |
for by errour he trespasside ayens the Lord. |
Because by mistake he trespassed against the Lord. | |

| 2 | Anima quæ peccaverit, et contempto Domino, negaverit proximo suo depositum quod fidei ejus creditum fuerat, vel vi aliquid extorserit, aut calumniam fecerit, |
and seide, A soule that synneth, and dispisith the Lord, and denyeth to his neiybore a thing bitakun to kepyng, that was bitakun to his feith, ethir takith maisterfuli a thing bi violence, ether makith fals chaleng, |
Whosoever shall sin, and despising the Lord, shall deny to his neighbour the thing delivered to his keeping, which was committed to his trust; or shall by force extort any thing, or commit oppression; | |
| 3 | sive rem perditam invenerit, et inficians insuper pejeraverit, et quodlibet aliud ex pluribus fecerit, in quibus solent peccare homines, |
ether fyndith a thing lost, and denyeth ferthermore and forswerith, and doth ony other thing of manye in whiche thingis men ben wont to do synne, |
Or shall find a thing lost, and denying it, shall also swear falsely, or shall do any other of the many things, wherein men are wont to sin: | |

| 5 | reddet omnia, quæ per fraudem voluit obtinere, integra, et quintam insuper partem domino cui damnum intulerat. |
it schal yelde hool alle thingis whiche it wolde gete bi fraude, and ferthermore the fyuethe part to the lord, to whom it dide harm. |
All that he would have gotten by fraud, in the principal, and the fifth part besides to the owner, whom he wronged. | |
| 6 | Pro peccato autem suo offeret arietem immaculatum de grege, et dabit eum sacerdoti, juxta æstimationem mensuramque delicti: |
Sotheli for his synne it schal offre a ram vnwemmed of the floc, and it schal yyue that ram to the preest, bi the valu and mesure of the trespas; |
Moreover for his sin he shall offer a ram without blemish out of the flock, and shall give it to the priest, according to the estimation and measure of the offence: | |
| 7 | qui rogabit pro eo coram Domino, et dimittetur illi pro singulis quæ faciendo peccavit. |
and the preest schal preie for hym bifor the Lord, and it schal be foryouun to hym, for alle thingis whiche he synnede in doyng. |
And he shall pray for him before the Lord, and he shall have forgiveness for every thing in doing of which he hath sinned. | |
