| 38 | Loquere filiis Israël, et dices ad eos ut faciant sibi fimbrias per angulos palliorum, ponentes in eis vittas hyacinthinas: |
Speke thou to the sones of Israel, and thou schalt seye to hem, that thei make to hem hemmes bi foure corneris of mentils, and sette laces of iacynct in tho; |
Speak to the children of Israel, and thou shalt tell them I to make to themselves fringes in the corners of their garments, putting in them ribands of blue: | |
| 39 | quas cum viderint, recordentur omnium mandatorum Domini, nec sequantur cogitationes suas et oculos per res varias fornicantes, |
and whanne thei seen thoo, haue thei mynde of alle comaundementis of the Lord, lest thei suen her thouytis and iyen, doynge fornycacioun bi dyuerse thingis; |
That when they shall see them, they may remember all the commandments of the Lord, and not follow their own thoughts and eyes going astray after divers things, | |
| 40 | sed magis memores præceptorum Domini faciant ea, sintque sancti Deo suo. |
but more be thei myndeful of the Lordis heestis, and do thei tho, and be thei hooli to her God. |
But rather being mindful of the precepts of the Lord, may do them and be holy to their Cod. | |
| 41 | Ego Dominus Deus vester, qui eduxi vos de terra Ægypti, ut essem Deus vester. |
Y am youre Lord God, which ledde you out of the lond of Egipt, that Y schulde be youre God. |
I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, that I might be your God. | |
