| 1 | In tempore illo dixit Dominus ad me: Dola tibi duas tabulas lapideas, sicut priores fuerunt, et ascende ad me in montem: faciesque arcam ligneam, |
In that tyme the Lord seide to me, Hewe thou twei tablis of stoon to thee, as the formere weren; and stie thou to me in to the hil. And thou schalt make an arke, |
At that time the Lord said to me: Hew thee two tables of stone like the former, and come up to me into the mount: and thou shalt make an ark of mood, | The two tablets of stone. Dt.10.1-11 | Ex.34.1-10 |
| 2 | et scribam in tabulis verba quæ fuerunt in his qui ante confregisti: ponesque eas in arca. |
ether a cofere, of tree, and Y schal write in the tablis, the wordis that weren in these tablis whiche thou brakist bifore; and thou schalt putte tho tablis in to the arke. |
And I will write on the tables the words that were in them, which thou brokest before, and thou shalt put them in the ark. | |
| 3 | Feci igitur arcam de lignis setim. Cumque dolassem duas tabulas lapideas instar priorum, ascendi in montem, habens eas in manibus. |
Therfor Y made an ark of the trees of Sechim, and whanne Y hadde hewe twei tablis of stoon, at the licnesse of the formere tablis, Y stiede in to the hil, and hadde the tablis in the hondis. |
And I made an ark of setim wood And when I had hewn two tables of stone like the former, I went up into the mount, having them in my hands. | |
| 4 | Scripsitque in tabulis, juxta id quod prius scripserat, verba decem, quæ locutus est Dominus ad vos in monte de medio ignis, quando populus congregatus est: et dedit eas mihi. |
And he wroot in the tablis, bi that that he hadde writun bifore, ten wordis, whiche the Lord spak to you in the hil, fro the myddis of the fyer, whanne the puple was gaderid, and he yaf the tablis to me. |
And he wrote in the tables, according as he had written before, the ten words, which the Lord spoke to you in the mount from the midst of the fire, when the people were assembled: and he gave them to me. | |
| 5 | Reversusque de monte, descendi, et posui tabulas in arcam, quam feceram, quæ hucusque ibi sunt, sicut mihi præcepit Dominus. |
And Y turnide ayen fro the hil, and cam doun, and puttide the tablis in to the arke which Y hadde maad, whiche tablis ben there hidur to, as the Lord comaundide to me. |
And returning from the mount, I came down, and put the tables into the ark, that I had made, and they are there till this present, as the Lord commanded me. | |
| 6 | Filii autem Israël moverunt castra ex Beroth filiorum Jacan in Mosera, ubi Aaron mortuus ac sepultus est, pro quo sacerdotio functus est Eleazar filius ejus. |
Forsothe the sones of Israel moueden tentis fro Beroth of the sones of Jachan in to Mosera, where Aaron was deed, and biried, for whom his sone Eleazar was set in preesthod. |
And the children of Israel removed their camp from Beroth of the children of Jacan into Mosera, where Aaron died and was buried, and Eleazar his son succeeded him in the priestly office. | |
| 7 | Inde venerunt in Gadgad: de quo loco profecti, castrametati sunt in Jetebatha, in terra aquarum atque torrentium. |
Fro thennus thei camen in to Galgad; fro which place thei yeden forth, and settiden tentis in Jehabatha, in the lond of watris and of strondis. |
From thence they came to Gadgad, from which place they departed, and camped in Jetebatha, in a land of waters and torrents. | |
| 8 | Eo tempore separavit tribum Levi, ut portaret arcam fœderis Domini, et staret coram eo in ministerio, ac benediceret in nomine illius usque in præsentem diem. |
In that tyme Y departide the lynage of Leuy, that it schulde bere the arke of boond of pees of the Lord, and schulde stonde bifor hym in seruyce, and schulde blesse in his name til in to present dai. |
At that time he separated the tribe of Levi, to carry the ark of the covenant of the Lord, and to stand before him in the ministry, and to bless in his name until this present day. | |
| 9 | Quam ob rem non habuit Levi partem, neque possessionem cum fratribus suis: quia ipse Dominus possessio ejus est, sicut promisit ei Dominus Deus tuus. |
For which thing Leuy hadde not part, nether possession with hise brithren, for the Lord hym silf is his possessioun, as thi Lord God bihiyte to hym. |
Wherefore Levi hath no part nor possession with his brethren: because the Lord himself is his possession, as the Lord thy God promised him. | |
| 10 | Ego autem steti in monte, sicut prius, quadraginta diebus ac noctibus: exaudivitque me Dominus etiam hac vice, et te perdere noluit. |
Forsothe Y stood in the hil as bifore, fourti daies and fourti niytis, and the Lord herde me also in this tyme, and nolde leese thee. |
And I stood in the mount, as before, forty days and nights: and the Lord heard me this time also, and would not destroy thee. | |
| 11 | Dixitque mihi: Vade, et præcede populum, ut ingrediatur, et possideat terram, quam juravi patribus eorum ut traderem eis. |
And he seide to me, Go thou, and go bifor this puple, that it entre, and welde the lond which Y swoor to her fadris, that Y schulde yeue to hem. |
And he said to me: Go, and walk before the people, that they may enter, and possess the land, which I swore to their fathers that I would give them. | |
