For we know that if the earthly tent we live in is destroyed, we have a building from God, a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens. | | Οἰδαμεν γὰρ ὅτι ἐὰν ἡ ἐπίγειος ἡμῶν οἰκία τοῦ σκήνους καταλυθῇ, οἰκοδομὴν ἐκ θεοῦ ἐχομεν οἰκίαν ἀχειροποίητον αἰώνιον ἐν τοῖς οὐρανοῖς. |

Here indeed we groan, and long to put on our heavenly dwelling, | | καὶ γὰρ ἐν τούτῳ στενάζομεν, τὸ οἰκητήριον ἡμῶν τὸ ἐξ οὐρανοῦ ἐπενδύσασθαι ἐπιποθοῦντες, |

so that by putting it on we may not be found naked. | | εἰ γε καὶ ἐκδυσάμενοι οὐ γυμνοὶ εὑρεθησόμεθα. |
| 4 |
For while we are still in this tent, we sigh with anxiety; not that we would be unclothed, but that we would be further clothed, so that what is mortal may be swallowed up by life. | | καὶ γὰρ οἱ ὄντες ἐν τῷ σκήνει στενάζομεν βαρούμενοι, ἐφ' ᾧ οὐ θέλομεν ἐκδύσασθαι ἀλλ' ἐπενδύσασθαι, ἵνα καταποθῇ τὸ θνητὸν ὑπὸ τῆς ζωῆς. |

He who has prepared us for this very thing is God, who has given us the Spirit as a guarantee. | | ὁ δὲ κατεργασάμενος ἡμᾶς εἰς αὐτὸ τοῦτο θεός, ὁ δοὺς ἡμῖν τὸν ἀρραβῶνα τοῦ πνεύματος. |

So we are always of good courage; we know that while we are at home in the body we are away from the Lord, | | Θαρροῦντες οὖν πάντοτε καὶ εἰδότες ὅτι ἐνδημοῦντες ἐν τῷ σώματι ἐκδημοῦμεν ἀπὸ τοῦ κυρίου, |

for we walk by faith, not by sight. | | διὰ πίστεως γὰρ περιπατοῦμεν οὐ διὰ εἰδους - |

We are of good courage, and we would rather be away from the body and at home with the Lord. | | θαρροῦμεν δὲ καὶ εὐδοκοῦμεν μᾶλλον ἐκδημῆσαι ἐκ τοῦ σώματος καὶ ἐνδημῆσαι πρὸς τὸν κύριον. |

So whether we are at home or away, we make it our aim to please him. | | διὸ καὶ φιλοτιμούμεθα, εἰτε ἐνδημοῦντες εἰτε ἐκδημοῦντες, εὐάρεστοι αὐτῷ εἶναι. |

For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each one may receive good or evil, according to what he has done in the body. | | τοὺς γὰρ πάντας ἡμᾶς φανερωθῆναι δεῖ ἐμπροσθεν τοῦ βήματος τοῦ Χριστοῦ, ἵνα κομίσηται ἑκαστος τὰ διὰ τοῦ σώματος πρὸς ἂ ἐπραξεν, εἰτε ἀγαθὸν εἰτε φαῦλον. |

Therefore, knowing the fear of the Lord, we persuade men; but what we are is known to God, and I hope it is known also to your conscience. | The Ministry of Reconciliation 2Cor.5.11-6.13 | Εἰδότες οὖν τὸν φόβον τοῦ κυρίου ἀνθρώπους πείθομεν, θεῷ δὲ πεφανερώμεθα· ἐλπίζω δὲ καὶ ἐν ταῖς συνειδήσεσιν ὑμῶν πεφανερῶσθαι. |

We are not commending ourselves to you again but giving you cause to be proud of us, so that you may be able to answer those who pride themselves on a man's position and not on his heart. | | οὐ πάλιν ἑαυτοὺς συνιστάνομεν ὑμῖν, ἀλλὰ ἀφορμὴν διδόντες ὑμῖν καυχήματος ὑπὲρ ἡμῶν, ἵνα ἐχητε πρὸς τοὺς ἐν προσώπῳ καυχωμένους καὶ μὴ ἐν καρδίᾳ. |

For if we are beside ourselves, it is for God; if we are in our right mind, it is for you. | | εἰτε γὰρ ἐξέστημεν, θεῷ· εἰτε σωφρονοῦμεν, ὑμῖν. |
| 14 |
For the love of Christ controls us, because we are convinced that one has died for all; therefore all have died. | | ἡ γὰρ ἀγάπη τοῦ Χριστοῦ συνέχει ἡμᾶς, κρίναντας τοῦτο, ὅτι εἷς ὑπὲρ πάντων ἀπέθανεν· ἀρα οἱ πάντες ἀπέθανον· |
| 15 |
And he died for all, that those who live might live no longer for themselves but for him who for their sake died and was raised. | | καὶ ὑπὲρ πάντων ἀπέθανεν ἵνα οἱ ζῶντες μηκέτι ἑαυτοῖς ζῶσιν ἀλλὰ τῷ ὑπὲρ αὐτῶν ἀποθανόντι καὶ ἐγερθέντι. |
| 16 |
From now on, therefore, we regard no one from a human point of view; even though we once regarded Christ from a human point of view, we regard him thus no longer. | | Ὥστε ἡμεῖς ἀπὸ τοῦ νῦν οὐδένα οἰδαμεν κατὰ σάρκα· εἰ καὶ ἐγνώκαμεν κατὰ σάρκα Χριστόν, ἀλλὰ νῦν οὐκέτι γινώσκομεν. |
| 17 |
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has passed away, behold, the new has come. | | ὡστε εἰ τις ἐν Χριστῷ, καινὴ κτίσις· τὰ ἀρχαῖα παρῆλθεν, ἰδοὺ γέγονεν καινά· |

All this is from God, who through Christ reconciled us to himself and gave us the ministry of reconciliation; | | τὰ δὲ πάντα ἐκ τοῦ θεοῦ τοῦ καταλλάξαντος ἡμᾶς ἑαυτῷ διὰ Χριστοῦ καὶ δόντος ἡμῖν τὴν διακονίαν τῆς καταλλαγῆς, |

that is, in Christ God was reconciling the world to himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and entrusting to us the message of reconciliation. | | ὡς ὅτι θεὸς ἦν ἐν Χριστῷ κόσμον καταλλάσσων ἑαυτῷ, μὴ λογιζόμενος αὐτοῖς τὰ παραπτώματα αὐτῶν, καὶ θέμενος ἐν ἡμῖν τὸν λόγον τῆς καταλλαγῆς. |
| 20 |
So we are ambassadors for Christ, God making his appeal through us. We beseech you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God. | | ὑπὲρ Χριστοῦ οὖν πρεσβεύομεν ὡς τοῦ θεοῦ παρακαλοῦντος δῖ ἡμῶν· δεόμεθα ὑπὲρ Χριστοῦ, καταλλάγητε τῷ θεῷ. |
| 21 |
For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God. | | τὸν μὴ γνόντα ἀμαρτίαν ὑπὲρ ἡμῶν ἀμαρτίαν ἐποίησεν, ἵνα ἡμεῖς γενώμεθα δικαιοσύνη θεοῦ ἐν αὐτῷ. |
