| "But in those days, after that tribulation, the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light, | The Coming of the Son of Man Mk.13.24-27 | Mt.24.32-35 | Lk.21.29-33 | Is.13.10 | Is.34.4 | Eze.32.7 | Ἀλλὰ ἐν ἐκείναις ταῖς ἡμέραις μετὰ τὴν θλῖψιν ἐκείνην ὁ ἥλιος σκοτισθήσεται, |
| and the stars will be falling from heaven, and the powers in the heavens will be shaken.
| And then they will see the Son of man coming in clouds with great power and glory.
| And then he will send out the angels, and gather his elect from the four winds, from the ends of the earth to the ends of heaven.
| "From the fig tree learn its lesson: as soon as its branch becomes tender and puts forth its leaves, you know that summer is near. | The Lesson of the Fig Tree Mk.13.28-31 (Olivet) | Mt.24.32-35 | Lk.21.29-33 | Ἀπὸ δὲ τῆς συκῆς μάθετε τὴν παραβολήν· ὁταν ἠδη ὁ κλάδος αὐτῆς ἀπαλὸς γένηται καὶ ἐκφύῃ τὰ φύλλα, γινώσκετε ὅτι ἐγγὺς τὸ θέρος ἐστίν. |
| So also, when you see these things taking place, you know that he is near, at the very gates.
| Truly, I say to you, this generation will not pass away before all these things take place.
| Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will not pass away.
| "But of that day or that hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father. | The Unknown Day and Hour Mk.13.32-37 (Olivet) | Mt.24.36-44 | Lk.17.26-30 | Lk.17.34-36 | Περὶ δὲ τῆς ἡμέρας ἐκείνης ἢ τῆς ὡρας οὐδεὶς οἶδεν, οὐδὲ οἱ ἀγγελοι ἐν οὐρανῷ οὐδὲ ὁ υἱός, εἰ μὴ ὁ πατήρ. |
| Take heed, watch; for you do not know when the time will come.
| It is like a man going on a journey, when he leaves home and puts his servants in charge, each with his work, and commands the doorkeeper to be on the watch.
| Watch therefore - for you do not know when the master of the house will come, in the evening, or at midnight, or at cockcrow, or in the morning - | γρηγορεῖτε οὖν, οὐκ οἰδατε γὰρ πότε ὁ κύριος τῆς οἰκίας ἐρχεται, ἢ ὀψὲ ἢ μεσονύκτιον ἢ ἀλεκτοροφωνίας ἢ πρωΐ,
| lest he come suddenly and find you asleep.
| And what I say to you I say to all: Watch." |
