| 1 | Καὶ εἶπεν κύριος τῷ Αβραμ Ἔξελθε ἐκ τῆς γῆς σου καὶ ἐκ τῆς συγγενείας σου καὶ ἐκ τοῦ οἴκου τοῦ πατρός σου εἰς τὴν γῆν, ἣν ἄν σοι δείξω· | And the Lord said to Abram, Go forth out of your land and out of your kindred, and out of the house of your father, and come into the land which I will shew you. | ABRAHAM: God's call to Abram. | 2 | καὶ ποιήσω σε εἰς ἔθνος μέγα καὶ εὐλογήσω σε καὶ μεγαλυνῶ τὸ ὄνομά σου, καὶ ἔσῃ εὐλογητός· | And I will make you a great nation, and I will bless you and magnify your name, and you shall be blessed. | And I will make of you a great nation, and I will bless you, and make your name great, so that you will be a blessing. | וְאֶעֶשְׂךָ לְגֹוי גָּדֹול וַאֲבָרֶךְךָ וַאֲגַדְּלָה שְׁמֶךָ וֶהְיֵה בְּרָכָה׃ | 2 | |
| 3 | καὶ εὐλογήσω τοὺς εὐλογοῦντάς σε, καὶ τοὺς καταρωμένους σε καταράσομαι· καὶ ἐνευλογηθήσονται ἐν σοὶ πᾶσαι αἱ φυλαὶ τῆς γῆς. | And I will bless those that bless you, and curse those that curse you, and in you shall all the tribes of the earth be blessed. | I will bless those who bless you, and him who curses you I will curse; and by you all the families of the earth shall bless themselves." | וַאֲבָרֲכָה מְבָרְכֶיךָ וּמְקַלֶּלְךָ אָאֹר וְנִבְרְכוּ בְךָ כֹּל מִשְׁפְּחֹת הָאֲדָמָה׃ |

| 4 | καὶ ἐπορεύθη Αβραμ, καθάπερ ἐλάλησεν αὐτῷ κύριος, καὶ ᾤχετο μετ' αὐτοῦ Λωτ· Αβραμ δὲ ἦν ἐτῶν ἑβδομήκοντα πέντε, ὅτε ἐξῆλθεν ἐκ Χαρραν. | And Abram went as the Lord spoke to him, and Lot departed with him, and Abram was seventy-five years old, when he went out of Charrhan. | So Abram went, as the LORD had told him; and Lot went with him. Abram was seventy-five years old when he departed from Haran. | וַיֵּלֶךְ אַבְרָם כַּאֲשֶׁר דִּבֶּר אֵלָיו יְהוָה וַיֵּלֶךְ אִתֹּו לֹוט וְאַבְרָם בֶּן־חָמֵשׁ שָׁנִים וְשִׁבְעִים שָׁנָה בְּצֵאתֹו מֵחָרָן׃ | 4 | |
| 5 | καὶ ἔλαβεν Αβραμ τὴν Σαραν γυναῖκα αὐτοῦ καὶ τὸν Λωτ υἱὸν τοῦ ἀδελφοῦ αὐτοῦ καὶ πάντα τὰ ὑπάρχοντα αὐτῶν, ὅσα ἐκτήσαντο, καὶ πᾶσαν ψυχήν, ἣν ἐκτήσαντο ἐν Χαρραν, καὶ ἐξήλθοσαν πορευθῆναι εἰς γῆν Χανααν καὶ ἦλθον εἰς γῆν Χανααν. - | And Abram took Sara his wife, and Lot the son of his brother, and all their possessions, as many as they had got, and every soul which they had got in Charrhan, and they went forth to go into the land of Chanaan. | And Abram took Sar'ai his wife, and Lot his brother's son, and all their possessions which they had gathered, and the persons that they had gotten in Haran; and they set forth to go to the land of Canaan. When they had come to the land of Canaan, | וַיִּקַּח אַבְרָם אֶת־שָׂרַי אִשְׁתֹּו וְאֶת־לֹוט בֶּן־אָחִיו וְאֶת־כָּל־רְכוּשָׁם אֲשֶׁר רָכָשׁוּ וְאֶת־הַנֶּפֶשׁ אֲשֶׁר־עָשׂוּ בְחָרָן וַיֵּצְאוּ לָלֶכֶת אַרְצָה כְּנַעַן וַיָּבֹאוּ אַרְצָה כְּנָעַן׃ | 5 | |
| 6 | καὶ διώδευσεν Αβραμ τὴν γῆν εἰς τὸ μῆκος αὐτῆς ἕως τοῦ τόπου Συχεμ ἐπὶ τὴν δρῦν τὴν ὑψηλήν· οἱ δὲ Χαναναῖοι τότε κατῴκουν τὴν γῆν. | And Abram traversed the land lengthwise as far as the place Sychem, to the high oak, and the Chananites then inhabited the land. | Abram passed through the land to the place at Shechem, to the oak of Moreh. At that time the Canaanites were in the land. | וַיַּעֲבֹר אַבְרָם בָּאָרֶץ עַד מְקֹום שְׁכֶם עַד אֵלֹון מֹורֶה וְהַכְּנַעֲנִי אָז בָּאָרֶץ׃ | 6 | |
| 7 | καὶ ὤφθη κύριος τῷ Αβραμ καὶ εἶπεν αὐτῷ Τῷ σπέρματί σου δώσω τὴν γῆν ταύτην. καὶ ᾠκοδόμησεν ἐκεῖ Αβραμ θυσιαστήριον κυρίῳ τῷ ὀφθέντι αὐτῷ. | And the Lord appeared to Abram, and said to him, I will give this land to your seed. And Abram built an altar there to the Lord who appeared to him. | Then the LORD appeared to Abram, and said, "To your descendants I will give this land." So he built there an altar to the LORD, who had appeared to him. | וַיֵּרָא יְהוָה אֶל־אַבְרָם וַיֹּאמֶר לְזַרְעֲךָ אֶתֵּן אֶת־הָאָרֶץ הַזֹּאת וַיִּבֶן שָׁם מִזְבֵּחַ לַיהוָה הַנִּרְאֶה אֵלָיו׃ | 7 | |
| 8 | καὶ ἀπέστη ἐκεῖθεν εἰς τὸ ὄρος κατ' ἀνατολὰς Βαιθηλ καὶ ἔστησεν ἐκεῖ τὴν σκηνὴν αὐτοῦ, Βαιθηλ κατὰ θάλασσαν καὶ Αγγαι κατ' ἀνατολάς· καὶ ᾠκοδόμησεν ἐκεῖ θυσιαστήριον τῷ κυρίῳ καὶ ἐπεκαλέσατο ἐπὶ τῷ ὀνόματι κυρίου. | And he departed thence to the mountain eastward of Baethel, and there he pitched his tent in Baethel near the sea, and Aggai toward the east, and there he built an altar to the Lord, and called on the name of the Lord. | Thence he removed to the mountain on the east of Bethel, and pitched his tent, with Bethel on the west and Ai on the east; and there he built an altar to the LORD and called on the name of the LORD. | וַיַּעְתֵּק מִשָּׁם הָהָרָה מִקֶּדֶם לְבֵית־אֵל וַיֵּט אָהֳלֹה בֵּית־אֵל מִיָּם וְהָעַי מִקֶּדֶם וַיִּבֶן־שָׁם מִזְבֵּחַ לַיהוָה וַיִּקְרָא בְּשֵׁם יְהוָה׃ | 8 | |
| 9 | καὶ ἀπῆρεν Αβραμ καὶ πορευθεὶς ἐστρατοπέδευσεν ἐν τῇ ἐρήμῳ. | And Abram departed and went and encamped in the wilderness. | And Abram journeyed on, still going toward the Negeb. | וַיִּסַּע אַבְרָם הָלֹוךְ וְנָסֹועַ הַנֶּגְבָּה׃ ף | 9 | |
| 10 | Καὶ ἐγένετο λιμὸς ἐπὶ τῆς γῆς, καὶ κατέβη Αβραμ εἰς Αἴγυπτον παροικῆσαι ἐκεῖ, ὅτι ἐνίσχυσεν ὁ λιμὸς ἐπὶ τῆς γῆς. | And there was a famine in the land, and Abram went down to Egypt to sojourn there, because the famine prevailed in the land. | Abram in Egypt. Gn.12.10-20 | Now there was a famine in the land. So Abram went down to Egypt to sojourn there, for the famine was severe in the land. | וַיְהִי רָעָב בָּאָרֶץ וַיֵּרֶד אַבְרָם מִצְרַיְמָה לָגוּר שָׁם כִּי־כָבֵד הָרָעָב בָּאָרֶץ׃ | 10 |
| 11 | ἐγένετο δὲ ἡνίκα ἤγγισεν Αβραμ εἰσελθεῖν εἰς Αἴγυπτον, εἶπεν Αβραμ Σαρα τῇ γυναικὶ αὐτοῦ Γινώσκω ἐγὼ ὅτι γυνὴ εὐπρόσωπος εἶ· | And it came to pass when Abram drew nigh to enter into Egypt, Abram said to Sara his wife, I know that you are a fair woman. | When he was about to enter Egypt, he said to Sar'ai his wife, "I know that you are a woman beautiful to behold; | וַיְהִי כַּאֲשֶׁר הִקְרִיב לָבֹוא מִצְרָיְמָה וַיֹּאמֶר אֶל־שָׂרַי אִשְׁתֹּו הִנֵּה־נָא יָדַעְתִּי כִּי אִשָּׁה יְפַת־מַרְאֶה אָתְּ׃ | 11 | |
| 12 | ἔσται οὖν ὡς ἂν ἴδωσίν σε οἱ Αἰγύπτιοι, ἐροῦσιν ὅτι Γυνὴ αὐτοῦ αὕτη, καὶ ἀποκτενοῦσίν με, σὲ δὲ περιποιήσονται. | It shall come to pass then that when the Egyptians shall see you, they shall say, This is his wife, and they shall slay me, but they shall save you alive. | and when the Egyptians see you, they will say, 'This is his wife'; then they will kill me, but they will let you live. | וְהָיָה כִּי־יִרְאוּ אֹתָךְ הַמִּצְרִים וְאָמְרוּ אִשְׁתֹּו זֹאת וְהָרְגוּ אֹתִי וְאֹתָךְ יְחַיּוּ׃ | 12 | |
| 13 | εἰπὸν οὖν ὅτι Ἀδελφὴ αὐτοῦ εἰμι, ὅπως ἂν εὖ μοι γένηται διὰ σέ, καὶ ζήσεται ἡ ψυχή μου ἕνεκεν σοῦ. | Say, therefore, I am his sister, that it may be well with me on account of you, and my soul shall live because of you. | Say you are my sister, that it may go well with me because of you, and that my life may be spared on your account." | אִמְרִי־נָא אֲחֹתִי אָתְּ לְמַעַן יִיטַב־לִי בַעֲבוּרֵךְ וְחָיְתָה נַפְשִׁי בִּגְלָלֵךְ׃ | 13 | |
| 14 | ἐγένετο δὲ ἡνίκα εἰσῆλθεν Αβραμ εἰς Αἴγυπτον, ἰδόντες οἱ Αἰγύπτιοι τὴν γυναῖκα ὅτι καλὴ ἦν σφόδρα, | And it came to pass when Abram entered into Egypt-- the Egyptians having seen his wife that she was very beautiful-- | When Abram entered Egypt the Egyptians saw that the woman was very beautiful. | וַיְהִי כְּבֹוא אַבְרָם מִצְרָיְמָה וַיִּרְאוּ הַמִּצְרִים אֶת־הָאִשָּׁה כִּי־יָפָה הִוא מְאֹד׃ | 14 | |
| 15 | καὶ εἶδον αὐτὴν οἱ ἄρχοντες Φαραω καὶ ἐπῄνεσαν αὐτὴν πρὸς Φαραω καὶ εἰσήγαγον αὐτὴν εἰς τὸν οἶκον Φαραω· | that the princes of Pharao saw her, and praised her to Pharao and brought her into the house of Pharao. | And when the princes of Pharaoh saw her, they praised her to Pharaoh. And the woman was taken into Pharaoh's house. | וַיִּרְאוּ אֹתָהּ שָׂרֵי פַרְעֹה וַיְהַלְלוּ אֹתָהּ אֶל־פַּרְעֹה וַתֻּקַּח הָאִשָּׁה בֵּית פַּרְעֹה׃ | 15 | |
| 16 | καὶ τῷ Αβραμ εὖ ἐχρήσαντο δι' αὐτήν, καὶ ἐγένοντο αὐτῷ πρόβατα καὶ μόσχοι καὶ ὄνοι, παῖδες καὶ παιδίσκαι, ἡμίονοι καὶ κάμηλοι. | And they treated Abram well on her account, and he had sheep, and calves, and asses, and men-servants, and women-servants, and mules, and camels. | And for her sake he dealt well with Abram; and he had sheep, oxen, he-asses, menservants, maidservants, she-asses, and camels. | וּלְאַבְרָם הֵיטִיב בַּעֲבוּרָהּ וַיְהִי־לֹו צֹאן־וּבָקָר וַחֲמֹרִים וַעֲבָדִים וּשְׁפָחֹת וַאֲתֹנֹת וּגְמַלִּים׃ | 16 | |
| 17 | καὶ ἤτασεν ὁ θεὸς τὸν Φαραω ἐτασμοῖς μεγάλοις καὶ πονηροῖς καὶ τὸν οἶκον αὐτοῦ περὶ Σαρας τῆς γυναικὸς Αβραμ. | And God afflicted Pharao with great and severe afflictions, and his house, because of Sara, Abram's wife. | But the LORD afflicted Pharaoh and his house with great plagues because of Sar'ai, Abram's wife. | וַיְנַגַּע יְהוָה אֶת־פַּרְעֹה נְגָעִים גְּדֹלִים וְאֶת־בֵּיתֹו עַל־דְּבַר שָׂרַי אֵשֶׁת אַבְרָם׃ | 17 | |
| 18 | καλέσας δὲ Φαραω τὸν Αβραμ εἶπεν Τί τοῦτο ἐποίησάς μοι, ὅτι οὐκ ἀπήγγειλάς μοι ὅτι γυνή σού ἐστιν; | And Pharao having called Abram, said, What is this you have done to me, that you did not tell me that she was your wife? | So Pharaoh called Abram, and said, "What is this you have done to me? Why did you not tell me that she was your wife? | וַיִּקְרָא פַרְעֹה לְאַבְרָם וַיֹּאמֶר מַה־זֹּאת עָשִׂיתָ לִּי לָמָּה לֹא־הִגַּדְתָּ לִּי כִּי אִשְׁתְּךָ הִוא׃ | 18 | |
| 19 | ἵνα τί εἶπας ὅτι Ἀδελφή μού ἐστιν; καὶ ἔλαβον αὐτὴν ἐμαυτῷ εἰς γυναῖκα. καὶ νῦν ἰδοὺ ἡ γυνή σου ἐναντίον σου· λαβὼν ἀπότρεχε. | Why did you say, She is my sister? and I took her for a wife to myself; and now, behold, your wife is before you, take her and go quickly away. | Why did you say, 'She is my sister,' so that I took her for my wife? Now then, here is your wife, take her, and be gone." | לָמָה אָמַרְתָּ אֲחֹתִי הִוא וָאֶקַּח אֹתָהּ לִי לְאִשָּׁה וְעַתָּה הִנֵּה אִשְׁתְּךָ קַח וָלֵךְ׃ | 19 | |
| 20 | καὶ ἐνετείλατο Φαραω ἀνδράσιν περὶ Αβραμ συμπροπέμψαι αὐτὸν καὶ τὴν γυναῖκα αὐτοῦ καὶ πάντα, ὅσα ἦν αὐτῷ, καὶ Λωτ μετ' αὐτοῦ. | And Pharao gave charge to men concerning Abram, to join in sending him forward, and his wife, and all that he had. | And Pharaoh gave men orders concerning him; and they set him on the way, with his wife and all that he had. | וַיְצַו עָלָיו פַּרְעֹה אֲנָשִׁים וַיְשַׁלְּחוּ אֹתֹו וְאֶת־אִשְׁתֹּו וְאֶת־כָּל־אֲשֶׁר־לֹו׃ | 20 | |
