1 Venit autem Roboam in Jerusalem, et convocavit universam domum Juda et Benjamin, centum octoginta millia electorum atque bellantium, ut dimicaret contra Israël, et converteret ad se regnum suum. Forsothe Roboam cam in to Jerusalem, and clepide togidere al the hows of Juda and of Beniamyn, til to nyne scoore thousynde of chosen men and werriouris, for to fiyte ayens Israel, and for to turne his rewme to hym. And Roboam came to Jerusalem, and called together all the house of Juda and of Benjamin, a hundred and fourscore thousand chosen men and warriors, to fight against Israel, and to bring back his kingdom to him. 2 Factusque est sermo Domini ad Semeiam hominem Dei, dicens: And the word of the Lord was maad to Semeye, the man of God, And the word of the Lord came to Semeias the man of God, saying:  
3 Loquere ad Roboam filium Salomonis regem Juda, et ad universum Israël, qui est in Juda et Benjamin: and seide, Speke thou to Roboam, the sone of Salomon, kyng of Juda, and to al Israel, which is in Juda and Beniamyn; The Lord seith these thingis, Speak to Roboam the son of Solomon the king of Juda, and to all Israel, in Juda and Benjamin:  
4 Hæc dicit Dominus: Non ascendetis, neque pugnabitis contra fratres vestros: revertatur unusquisque in domum suam, quia mea hoc gestum est voluntate. Qui cum audissent sermonem Domini, reversi sunt, nec perrexerunt contra Jeroboam. Ye schulen not stie, nethir ye schulen fiyte ayens youre britheren; ech man turne ayen in to his hows, for this thing is doon bi my wille. And whanne thei hadden herd the word of the Lord, thei turneden ayen, and yeden not ayens kyng Jeroboam. Thus saith the Lord: You shall not go up, nor fight against your brethren: let every man return to his own house, for by my will this thing has been done. And when they heard the word of the Lord, they returned, and did not go against Jeroboam,  
5 Habitavit autem Roboam in Jerusalem, et ædificavit civitates muratas in Juda. Forsothe Roboam dwellide in Jerusalem, and he bildide wallid citees in Juda; And Roboam dwelt in Jerusalem, and built walled cities in Juda. Rehoboam fortifies the cities. 2Chr.11.5-12
6 Exstruxitque Bethlehem, et Etam, et Thecue, and bildide Bethleem, and Ethan, and Thecue, and Bethsur; And he built Bethlehem, and Etam, and Thecue,  
7 Bethsur quoque, et Socho, et Odollam, and Sochot, and Odollam; And Bethsur, and Socho, and Odollam,

11 Cumque clausisset eas muris, posuit in eis principes, ciborumque horrea, hoc est, olei, et vini. And whanne he hadde closid tho with wallis, he settide in tho citees princes, and bernes of metis, that is, of oile, and of wyn. And when he had enclosed them with walls, he put in them governors and storehouses of provisions, that is, of oil and of wine.  
12 Sed et in singulis urbibus fecit armamentarium scutorum et hastarum, firmavitque eas summa diligentia, et imperavit super Judam et Benjamin. But also in ech citee he made placis of armuris of scheeldis, and speris, and he made tho strong with most diligence; and he regnyde on Juda and Beniamyn. Moreover in every city he made an armoury of shields and spears, and he fortified them with great diligence, and he reigned over Juda, and Benjamin,  
13 Sacerdotes autem et Levitæ qui erant in universo Israël, venerunt ad eum de cunctis sedibus suis, Sotheli the preestis and dekenes, that weren in al Israel, camen to hym fro alle her seetis, And the priests and Levites, that were in all Israel, came to him out of all their seats, Priests & Levites come to Judah. 2Chr.11.13-17
14 relinquentes suburbana et possessiones suas, et transeuntes ad Judam et Jerusalem: eo quod abjecisset eos Jeroboam et posteri ejus, ne sacerdotio Domini fungerentur. and forsoken her subarbis and possessiouns, and thei passiden to Juda and to Jerusalem; for Jeroboam and hise aftir comeris hadden cast hem a wey, that thei schulden not be set in preesthod of the Lord; Leaving their suburbs, and their possessions, and passing over to Juda, and Jerusalem, because Jeroboam and his sons had cast them off, from executing the priestly office to the Lord.  
15 Qui constituit sibi sacerdotes excelsorum, et dæmoniorum, vitulorumque quos fecerat. which Jeroboam made to hym preestis of hiye places, and of feendis, and of caluys, which he hadde maad. And he made to himself priests for the high places, and for the devils, and for the calves which he had made.  
16 Sed et de cunctis tribubus Israël, quicumque dederant cor suum ut quærerent Dominum Deum Israël, venerunt in Jerusalem ad immolandum victimas suas coram Domino Deo patrum suorum. But also of alle the linagis of Israel, whiche euer yauen her herte to seke the Lord God of Israel, thei camen to Jerusalem for to offre her sacrifices bifor the Lord God of her fadris. Moreover out of all the tribes of Israel, whosoever gave their heart to seek the Lord the God of Israel, came into Jerusalem to sacrifice their victims be- fore the Lord the God of their fathers.  
17 Et roboraverunt regnum Juda, et confirmaverunt Roboam filium Salomonis per tres annos: ambulaverunt enim in viis David et Salomonis, annis tantum tribus. And thei strengthiden the rewme of Juda, and strengthiden Roboam, the sone of Salomon, bi thre yeer; for thei yeden in the weies of Dauid, and of Salomon, oneli bi thre yeer. And they strengthened the kingdom of Juda, and established Roboam the son of Solomon for three years: for they walked in the ways of David and of Solomon, only three years.  
18 Duxit autem Roboam uxorem Mahalath filiam Jerimoth filii David: Abihail quoque filiam Eliab filii Isai, Forsothe Roboam weddide a wijf Malaoth, the douytir of Jerymuth, sone of Dauid, and Abiail, the douytir of Heliab, sone of Ysaye; And Roboam took to wife Mahalath, the daughter of Jerimoth the son of David: and Abihail the daughter of Eliab the son of Isai. Rehoboam's family. 2Chr.11.18-23
19 quæ peperit ei filios Jehus, et Somoriam, et Zoom. and sche childide to hym sones, Yeus, and Somorie, and Zerei. And they bore him sons Jehus, and Somorias, and Zoom.  
20 Post hanc quoque accepit Maacha filiam Absalom, quæ peperit ei Abia, et Ethai, et Ziza, et Salomith. Also after this wijf he took Maacha, the douyter of Abissalon, and sche childide to hym Abia, and Thai, and Ziza, and Salomyth. And after her he married Maacha the daughter of Absalom, who bore him Abia and Ethai, and Ziza, and Salomith.  
21 Amavit autem Roboam Maacha filiam Absalom super omnes uxores suas et concubinas: nam uxores decem et octo duxerat, concubinas autem sexaginta: et genuit viginti octo filios, et sexaginta filias. Forsothe Roboam louyde Maacha, the douytir of Abissalon, aboue alle hise wyues and secundarie wyues. Forsothe he hadde weddid eiytene wyues, sotheli sixti secundarie wyues; and he gendride eiyte and twenti sones, and sixti douytris. And Roboam loved Maacha the daughter of Absalom above all his wives, and concubines: for he had married eighteen wives, and threescore concubines: and he beget eight and twenty sons, and threescore daughters.  
22 Constituit vero in capite Abiam filium Maacha ducem super omnes fratres suos: ipsum enim regem facere cogitabat, Sotheli he ordeynede Abia, the sone of Maacha, in the heed, duyk ouer alle hise britheren; for he thouyte to make Abia kyng, But he put at the head of them Abia the son of Maacha to be the chief ruler over all his brethren: for he meant to make him king,  
23 quia sapientior fuit, et potentior super omnes filios ejus, et in cunctis finibus Juda et Benjamin, et in universis civitatibus muratis: præbuitque eis escas plurimas, et multas petivit uxores. for he was wisere and myytiere ouer alle hise sones, and in alle the coostis of Juda and of Beniamyn, and in alle wallid citees; and he yaf to hem ful many metis, and he had many wyues. Because he was wiser and mightier than all his sons, and in all the countries of Juda, and of Benjamin, and in all the walled cities: and he gave them provisions in abundance, and he sought many wives.
